Your Sports Résumé
Suggestions from HighWired Sports

Every Student-Athlete who is serious about playing college athletics should have a sports résumé.  One page that contains your basic information, sports history, accomplishments and academic history will help college coaches get to know you.  Include a picture of yourself.  If it's not on the actual résumé page, attach a snapshot.

Key Items to Include

Academic Points:
bulletHigh school name, address, and phone number
bulletgraduation date
bulletGPA
bulletClass Rank
bulletPSAT score
bulletSAT and/or ACT score
(if you have not taken either the SAT or ACT, list your expected test date)
Leadership or Community Experiences:
bulletHigh school group involvement
bulletCommunity involvement such as church or choir group
bulletVolunteer experiences
Personal Points:
bulletHobbies or other skills

 

Athletic Points:
bulletList each sport you have competed in at the high school level, including:
bulletEvents you compete in or position(s) played
bulletKey times or statistics for each sport
bulletAny awards of honors for each sport
Reference List:

It is a good idea to list your high school coach.  Try to get approval to include a home phone number or school voicemail.  Other references may include guidance counselors, teachers and private club coaches.
